A little something from one of my favorite writers.  This is hilarious:

at work, holding a zero bar

Jun. 10th, 2008 | 09:39 am

 The grip behind my eyes
and all eyes
is tighter now than it was
when we were children

candy bars are shrinking
and somehow my gut has expanded
with this less-real food

yet I can't help but notice
these pills are so novel:
shapes and sizes galore!

I spend my evenings
filling med cups with an anti-schizophrenia bouquet
and showering nude men
who sometimes piss on me

About .5 miles away

Jun. 6th, 2008 | 10:06 am

I thought it was maybe a cabinet or bookshelf crashing down upstairs.  Nope, it was just a house exploding down the street.

another day in the Wild wild westside.

I love the Wii.  i've got people around me who never even looked in the direction of a video game console hooked.  Mila is busy dominating the Wii Playy scoreboards (more specifically fishing and target, although she will NEVER touch my charge! record of 328), my dad is a master bowler, and we all love Boom Blox (check it out, it's insanely fun).  I spend way too much time racing mariokart online.

I play mr. mom during the day, and work evenings at the care home.  I also pull doubles on the weekend.  When will I use my degree again?

Making progress on The Whooshay.  My destiny involves writing this book, i WILL get it done.

Zoe is amazing, Mila is amazing. . . life is hard in Michigan right now but better days will surely come.

not much a lot

May. 7th, 2008 | 07:45 am

Not much internet lately.  Not much writing.  At least not much poetry.  Still working on The Whooshay, although I started it over again recently.

A lot of Zoe, Mia, and Mila.  A lot of mental health work.  Not a lot of pay.

A lot of reading.  Found some new authors to dig on:

TC Boyle (Drop City, Road to Wellville)

David Mitchell (Number9Dream)

Running into faces from the past recently:  Spohn, Laura, hi.

Getting married August 9.  Wooohooo!  Joint tax returns!

Waving At Airplanes

Mar. 21st, 2008 | 08:14 pm

Please read this story.  I'm not sure if I like it or not, so please be critical and tell me how to make it better.  I think it needs a new ending.  Suggestions?

One New Message

Hey Uncle Gerard-

Sorry about this afternoon and the whole hot dog up your nose thing.  And the mustard in the moustache.  And the barbecue sauce in the beard.  And sorry about Kafka eating it right off your face.  You were a good sport about the whole thing, but I still wanted to let you know how sorry I was.  I'll see you next week at the shuttle launch.  You bring the bananas, I'll bring the souffle.

3 days until Mia's (and, by proxy, my) Wii arrives in the mail.  I'm greasing up my wrist already.  I'm expecting that it hasn't seen this much action since middle school
